Woman charged with punching elderly man in a wheelchair in the head and robbing him in Nubian Square

Transit Police report arresting a woman they say attacked and robbed an elderly man Monday afternoon on Washington Street near the Nubian Square bus station, then sauntered onto a T bus - only to be promptly pulled off by cops alerted by bystanders.

Police say that around 1:30 p.m., Malina Stacy, 25, went up to an 84-year-old man in a wheelchair on Washington Street near the Nubian Square bus station.

Stacy requested the victim give her some money. When the victim informed Stacy he did not have money to give her she responded by closed fisted striking him in the face and head and removing money from the victim's jacket pocket. Stacy then fled into Nubian Sq. Station and boarded an MBTA bus. Concerned citizens who observed the robbery flagged down Transit Police officers.

Police say that officers recovered what money the man did have from Stacy. She was charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery on an elderly person, police say.

Innocent, etc.

I wonder if she has an 11-year-old daughter who likes to hang out at Downtown Crossing and the Common with her guy friends

Girls now are just as brazen as boys and are quite capable of equal destruction and menace.

For attacking a disabled person.

And it is a felony. Hate crimes are very hard to prove.

This person did a horrible and cynical thing in mugging an elderly person in a wheelchair who couldn’t defend themselves. They deserve to face severe criminal penalties.

But hate crime laws exist because there really are extremists out there who will attack disabled people solely out of sadistic hate. There’s absolutely no indication that’s what happened here. Tacking on dishonest hate crime charges, in bad faith and out of pure malice, only gives fuel to bigots who want to remove hate crime laws entirely.

This culture of “punish criminals far beyond the extent allowable under US constitutional law” is just as immoral and lawless as the mindset of the lady who mugged the disabled elderly person. Even if you don’t personally get your hands dirty.

He didn't lie if he said "I don't have any money to give you" vs "I don't have any money".
