After gunfire off Norfolk Street in Dorchester, man ran away from officers with a gun in his hand, but was captured, police say

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of gunfire on Hannon Street near Norfolk Street Sunday night arrested an Everett man after a foot chase when he ditched his car near Stanton Street and tried to run away with a loaded gun in his hand.

Police say officers responding to a report from the BPD Shotspotter system on Hannon, saw a car racing up Norfolk, which they stopped near Stanton, several blocks away.

As officers attempted to conducted the traffic stop, the driver, later identified as Christopher Voltaire, exited the vehicle with a firearm in his hand and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short time later in a neighboring back yard. Officers recovered a loaded Taurus G2C 9mm firearm with one round in the chamber and one round in the magazine.

He was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.
