Two of the lesser eBay bloody-pig-mask stalker minions are sentenced; one gets a year in prison, the other gets a year of home confinement

A federal judge today sentenced two of the eBay goons responsible for terrorizing a Natick couple who posted articles their corporate overlords didn't like, the US Attorney's office reports.

Stephanie Popp, 34, of Louisville, Ky., eBay’s former Senior Manager of Global Intelligence, was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and two years of probation. Stephanie Stockwell, 28, of Redwood City, Calif., the former manager of eBay’s Global Intelligence Center, was sentenced to two years of probation, with one year to be served in home confinement. Both sentences were imposed by Senior U.S. District Court Judge William G. Young

That compares to the 57 months - 4 3/4 years - the company's former security director got sentenced to last month for putting together a tiger team to terrorize Ina and David Steiner, in a campaign that included sending the couple items ranging from a bloody-pig mask to live insects, sending them constant threats via social media, further harassing them and their neighbors by signing them up for subscriptions to offensive magazines and mailing lists and, finally, flying to Boston to try to follow them around Natick and put a GPS device on their car, while one team member monitored the local police channel to try to outwit local cops who turned out not to be as bumbling as the eBozos thought they were.

Somehow this doesn't feel like justice.

Somehow this doesn't feel like justice.

Not complete justice, no. But is there any question that those who were sentenced deserved what they got?

This is just the criminal trial right? Seems like the sort of case where a jury might award a shitload of money in compensatory and punitive damages to the defendants.

The Steiners have a lawsuit against eBay, which, after apologizing and saying it wanted to make amends, is, of course, fighting them every step of the way.
