Boston Police report they have so far been unable to identify a woman who was found dead in the Codman Burying Ground on Norfolk Street in Codman Square on Monday evening.

Police say the woman, possibly in her 20s, white and Hispanic, 5'3" and about 150 lbs. with short brown hair, was wearing a green jacket with white stripes down the sleeves, a gray hoodie with "USMC" on the front, black sweatpants and red Nike slide-on sneakers.

She was found around 6 p.m. and was declared dead at the scene. Police did not disclose a cause of death.

Live Boston reports some kids out trick or treating found her body - and a gun.

The trick-or-treaters who found the body also alerted police to the fact they had actually touched some of the evidence. The children explained to investigators that they actually had picked up the firearm believing it was a toy and fired at least one round.

Anybody who has any information can contact detectives at 617-343-4470 or the anonymous tip line by calling 800-494-TIPS or by texting TIP to CRIME (27463).

So very sad. Peace be with her and her family.

Is on the rise and I haven't heard a peep from any of the candidates for public office on the horrible crimes that are happening daily. Does anyone know the description of the brute who stabbed civil rights icon Jean McGuire in Franklin Park?

Violence against women Is on the rise

Possibly true, but...

Police did not disclose a cause of death.

A dead body & a gun found together makes it seem more likely to have been a suicide than an act of violence against the person.

It wouldn't be surprising.
All the same, it could be a murder. If the gun isn't traceable to the perpetrator, it would make a sick sort of brutal practical sense to dump it at the scene rather than be seen disposing it anyplace else or it being found in your possession while waiting to dispose of it.

Suicide is an act of violence. Correct. And there is no need at this point to somehow dismiss foul play.

This could have been an even worse tragedy if the kids, thinking it was a toy, had fired it at one of them.
