Great.
Just what we needed.
Evidence that the administration of liquor licenses in this area will have literally gone to the dogs, after having gone figuratively decades ago.

So long as there's a zero tolerance policy for shitty dogs and shitty owners, this sounds awesome. Jerk owners can ruin the dog park experience even without the alcohol added to the mix. I doubt they're going to do the sort of pre-vetting that happens at daycares, so they're going to need to be more proactive about this sort of thing.

I admit it's been many years since I owned a dog, so maybe I have a flawed understanding of what happens at dog parks, but don't dogs typically shit at them? I also admit that the resulting indoor atmosphere would not appeal to me.

Are the indoor on-leash and off-leash areas for the dogs or the customers?

That reeks of dog urine, congratulations, Everett.

You must not spend any time in the fermentation district where doggos rule the patio scene.

None of these places smell like dog urine. Not Short Path, not the lively doggo scenes at Bone Up and Night Shift, or even across the Malden at Idle Hands. Perhaps because there are very real consequences of not following some basic rules when it comes to private places and keeping the neighbors happy?

just hate dogs (for reasons I will never understand). I myself don't want kids (and I love my nephews and nieces), but I don't waste anyone's time complaining about baby screams on public transportation.

Also, as you say, there are lots of lovely spaces to encounter responsible people who enjoy spending time with their and others' dogs. Small joy in life.

The owners, however...

Admittedly, we're a bit constrained for green space here that isn't a 6-8 minute walk. In fact, if there are people using the local basketball court or street hockey rink, you can guarantee that owners will let their pooch piss and poop there while kids and adults are playing, without batting an eyelash.

Couple that with narrow sidewalks, so that Fido has no choice but to take a leak in the sides of houses and front steps, the whole neighborhood is enveloped in an acrid aroma.

This is not an indictment, it's merely pointing out facts.

So I have to be a little confused though because if this is the building I think it is it's behind a shopping center, adjacent to a trail that is pretty much on the outer edge of actual homes. There are houses there but only on one side and easily avoided... Why wouldnt you want a seperate area like this aimed right at dogs?

I don't complain about Chuck E Cheese being in that big plaza in Everett, I actually appreciate it. It contains all the loud smelly overactive children in a self contained environment away from me and they enjoy it too. It's a win win. If dog owners with their dogs bother you then celebrate the fact they will get a spot that caters to them and encouraged them to a trial trails and what not. This is my philosophy with teens and activities too. If something annoys you the best thing you can do is advocate for what they really want and just make sure it's placed in a good spot and then send them off to go do their thing.

Although I do agree that if they want to ensure this is a success the management needs to be really on top of enforcement. I do also imagine they may need some decent insurance. It's one thing to passively allow dogs into your property and a complete other to actively invite them.
