Armed robber lets gun slip out of his pants at Airport station, gets arrested, police say

Transit Police report arresting a man for armed robbery after his getaway was slowed when his gun fell out of his pants, letting his victim and a T worker catch up to and then grab and hold him until officers arrived.

Transit Police say Ja'Kye Lucas's downfall began not long after he and two pals robbed somebody at gunpoint at Memorial Stadium in East Boston around 5:20 p.m.

Lucas, 18, of East Boston, stuck what turned out to be a loaded gun in the victim's stomach and demanded "everything," to which the victim replied by handing over his iPhone and his wallet, police say. Then, the three ran toward and into the Airport Blue Line station:

The victim gave chase and observed a black firearm fall the waistband area of Lucas near the station's elevator. Lucas and the victim struggled on the outbound platform and Lucas was able to flee again exiting towards the station's parking lot. Once in the parking lot the victim and an MBTA employee detained Lucas until arrival of the TPD.

Officers recovered the gun, a Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 Auto loaded with six bullets, police say.

Lucas was charged with armed robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Transit Police also report arresting a gentleman who was wanted for several armed robberies in the downtown stations. I applaud them for apprehending these bandits but I wish they would warn the riding public of crime problems instead of waiting weeks to release videos and press releases. They won't even release the video of the Transit Police Officer who was beaten by a mob at Forest Hills.

Now sure. They are overpriced for what they are, but the appropriate holster for that firearm could have been worth every penny.

than sticking a pistol in your waistband. I am in no way condoning armed robbery but this one was just not well thought out.
