I'd go one more time...
...if it wasn't for that pesky celiac. I used to enjoy going there a decade ago, before I knew what my symptoms were from! JP used to have a lot of cozy pub-type places like this. It seems too expensive, now..

Eugene O Neils, Galway House, Costellos, Brendan Behan, The Haven, Jeannie Johnston all still exist.
Oh no!
My wife and I had our first date there!
We had gotten out of the habit of going there, but have been back a couple times in 2022 and really loved the food and the vibe. Damn!
Ditto
Though we've only been back once since the 10 year old was born.
$2.2M Of Deep Regret?
Not bad for an $80,000 plus whatever, if there was anything owed on the old mortgage, on its purchase in 1996.
I'll take that heavy heart any day.
This is what he's talking about

That's too bad. Years ago a group of us would go weekly and enjoyed everything from the food to the staff.
When they remodeled I felt it changed...the food and atmosphere wasn't the same (IMHO).
I am sure the liquor license will go to the Seaport.
My assumption is the owner is selling the building - can anyone confirm?
Listing
As others say the building went for $2.2 million.

I don't think it's sold yet
I think it is still on the market. I live in this neighborhood and it is damn hard to keep decent places open along that strip. Still a check cashing place, a liquor store, a driving school, a dojo, three bars (of which two are closed, and now third closing) Even Bukhara started to suck when it moved to this location.
The bldup post is incorrect
I get how this is a bad place to put a business.
Just wondering if bldup has incorrect information.

The food was best when Mike, the apiarist, was chef.
uninspired menu, basically an overflow for Brassica
I hope the liquor license stays and something that's both good and interesting moves into the location, especially if Brassica is move into the old Doyle's spot.
Keep Forest Hills Weird
LoL
Dogwood Cafe
They had good coffee.
Bummer
Was often my go-to place after visits to Franklin park...
