Randolph motorist charged with hitting woman outside North Station, then running her over

A Randolph man faces a variety of charges after he allegedly ran a woman down outside North Station early this morning, while a couple of his pals face charges that they made asses of themselves at the scene and then again at the police station, where they were arrested after allegedly chest bumping cops and challenging them to a fight, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Jakob Civil, 23, was arraigned today in Boston Municipal Court on charged of leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury and a number of lesser motor-vehicle counts, according to the DA's office. His friends, Eric Tinsley, 23, of Brookline and Jacob Marks, 22, of Boston, were charged with assault and battery on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct and trespassing. Judge John Garland set Civil's bail at $1,500 and ordered him to stay away from the District A-1 police station; the other two had bail set at $500 and were also ordered to stay away from that police station.

Assistant District Attorney Alex Simone said that police responded to the corner of Causeway and Portland streets at about 12:45 a.m. Friday for a call of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. They located the victim bleeding from the head. A witness told officers he was walking behind the victim when she was struck by a gray Honda, causing her to roll up onto the hood of the car before landing on the street, where the Honda proceeded to run over her head and shoulders. A second witness followed the car after it fled the scene. The witness informed the driver, Civil, that he had hit a pedestrian. Civil returned to the scene and identified himself to officers. Officers were able to view the incident on surveillance cameras.

The victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.

Civil’s passengers, Marks and Tinsley, lingered at the scene and made rude and derogatory remarks to officers. Eventually they proceeded to BPD A-1 station on Sudbury Street to pay Civil's bail. The men continued their disruptive behavior, yelling obscenities at officers while in the lobby. Officers removed the men. The men waited outside of the station for officers. When officers emerged to respond to an unrelated call, Marks and Tinsley challenged them to fight and then chest-bumped them. Both men were then arrested.

BOSTON, December 23, 2022 —A Randolph motorist and two of his passengers were arraigned today on numerous charges after a hit-and-run near North Station last night that left a 25-year-old woman with head and upper body injuries, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

JAKOB CIVIL, 23, was charged in Central Division BMC with leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury and several motor vehicle violations. Judge John Garland ordered Civil held on $1,500 bail and ordered him to stay away from the Boston police A-1 station and to have no contact with the victim or witnesses.

ERIC TINSLEY, 23, of Brookline and JACOB MARKS, 22, of Boston were charged with assault and battery on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct and trespassing. Garland ordered each held on $500 bail, along with the same stay-away conditions.

The three men will return to court January 20 for a probable cause hearing.
