Woman says devil made her set Dorchester three decker on fire today, DA says

A Dorchester woman was arrested today on charges she set a Mora Street three decker on fire this morning, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Nikia Rivera, 45, was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court on a charge of arson of a dwelling. Judge Erika Reis ordered her sent to a DMH facility in Worcester for an evaluation.

The DA's office provided this account:

At about 11:20 a.m. today officers were dispatched to a building fire at 74 Mora Street in Dorchester. A witness to the fire told officers that Rivera told him “I’m sorry, I had to do it” before leaving the scene on foot. Officers later made contact with Rivera. She told them “I had to do it. That house is haunted. I lit the house on fire.” She further told booking officers: “The devil made me do it, there are ghosts in my house.”

The three-family house is owned by a Brockton man, according to city and state records.

Innocent, etc.

I had friends who lived on the first and third floor of this house and that’s why both their families left

Ok so it's haunted and the devil told her to set it on fire. But she should have made sure no other tenants and pets were there first. To do what she did, it sounds like she is haunted and doesn't deserve to be a tenant anywhere. Examples of nice facilities for the mentally ill who aren't wealthy? Where?

The back hallway was creepy but lots of echoing and phantom footsteps there. Third floor friend’s mom often felt possessed but was written off as anxiety. First floor had a lot of random things falling out of nowhere and questionable “electrical issues” like the lights turning on while everyone was asleep. Spirits seen in both

Ghosts or the mentally ill person on the 2nd floor?

Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think houses are haunted so much as the person in the house is haunted. If that's the case, no matter where that person goes, the spirits that haunt him/her will show up.
Any paranormal experts want to chime in?
On the subject, my computer suggests the next few words of any given sentence that I'm writing which I can use by hitting the tab key or ignore by continuing to type.
Just now it knew to put the word paranormal. That's eerie.
Happy New Year, everybody.

They should also check her carbon monoxide levels. The symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning closely match what people report in "haunted" houses--feeling confused or uneasy, blurred vision, shortness of breath, even hallucinations. There might also be something else going on with her, but it could have been a contributing factor.

Lady, it didn't work for George Lutz @ 112 Ocean Ave, and it won't work for you either.

George didn't set the house on fire, he did however say it was haunted so he could abandon a mortgage that he was over his head for.
