Short video sums up the T experience these days

Fed-up passengers shove a belligerent, spitting homophobe off a Red Line train at South Station while another guy is sprawled across several seats, sleeping through it all.

I have been a daily T rider for 50 years. There have always been a degree of crazies, intoxicated and otherwise disruptive people, as in any such public place. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING, like today. Can anyone explain with any validity exactly why it has become so enormously worse in the past few years? Why do there seem to be so many more people with mental health issues than a relatively short time ago? And the dramatic increase in the opiate addicted population. Very few of whom are all that young, by the way, despite the usual "oh, save our children from drugs" rhetoric that one hears from politicians and the like.

but my non-researched opinion is to peg this to the closing of the Long Island Bridge, and the losing of the services there

It really is worse than ever on the T. I’m on Ashmont- S Station 3x per week and have done do this commute for years pre-Covid. Between trains at rush hour more than 20 minutes apart and behavior like this (which isn’t rare), something needs to change if this city is ever to get back to normal.
Yesterday, I had a drunk guy sit next to me while I waited for a train to ask for money for a burger. After I said no, and the women next to me said no, he took a burger out of his pocket, ate half of it and spit out the rest on the ground, after taking out his fake teeth. At least he spit on the ground and not me or the woman next to me!

Yesterday on Columbia road the Jets and Sharks had a battle on a bus. The bus lost and had to be taken out of service not sure how many passengers were injured.

And so many people hope the T can fix its ways.

Riders on a Red Line train
Toss off a man without a brain.

I'd use "throw" instead of Toss there, Royale.

They'd see things and could possibly respond that way.

... is using your $1,000 hi-definition device to record in vertical resolution.

I have trained myself for years to always take videos horizontally because it's obviously the better format. But since TikTok (and now Instagram's Reels) are the dominant social media format, I've noticed everyone wants both pictures and videos to be vertical.
Whenever I get asked to take a picture for someone posing in front of something, they always ask me to rotate the camera now.
