Man winds up under Red Line train at Park Street

Red Line service in both directions was shut after a man wound up on the tracks at Park Street around 1:45 p.m.

The T is now running shuttle buses between Harvard Square and Broadway.

Should this person go to jail for delaying thousands and have their T privileges revoked?

Just want to make sure when a car is not involved in delaying the T that you have an equal sense of justice for an equal crime.

Because you might want to dial it back a bit. Unless, of course, you're unable to make any sort of distinction between somebody who likely suffered serious injuries getting hit by a train and somebody who doesn't know how to drive.

I was guessing that maybe it has been a rash of suicide attempts, but maybe inattentiveness is another possibility.

Subway systems that have been properly maintained and upgraded don’t have this issue, as they have platform doors that remain closed until a train has arrived and opened its doors.

If you only travel in the US, you may not have seen these except at airports. Many of their people mover systems include this feature.

But not our “world class city,” where our only investment was to spend 1/10th of a Highway tunnel to extend the Green Line 3 miles in an existing rail right-of-way.

And service would still suck with gross stations. Maybe after a quick refresh things would look nice then they’d start leaking and falling apart and say they need more money.

can't be installed on the Red Line as long as they use their current mix of equipment, where some cars have 3 doors and others have 4.
