Transit Police report that around midnight, a 22-year-old driver from the Framingham suburb of Ashland was speeding down Huntington Avenue when he blasted through a red light and then "crashed into a traffic pole and somehow landed on MBTA GL M.F.A. stop."

The driver will face charges of operating to endanger, speeding and ignoring a red light, police say, adding he was uninjured.

Why did they block the license plate? Its not confidential information. Stop doing everything possible to treat criminal drivers with kid gloves.

If you need know the plate, it is pretty easy to pull out of the Twitter post.
Not sure why they hid it in one picture and not the other.

Wow, that must be one of those silly old laws from the 1700s that they only dust off once in a while, like "herding Pigs in the city limits on the Sabbath" or "making Eye contact with a known Slattern within sight of the local Church" - could have a chilling effect on local drivers if they start enforcing that one

There's no longer even a tiny speck of concern they might get pulled over and cited, or hit a pedestrian or another vehicle, streetcars included. The city has entirely given up on enforcing traffic laws.

And remember when they were going to outlaw driving with a cell phone in your hand? I'm actually shocked when I'm waiting for a bus and see someone drive by who isn't holding one.

I recently moved out of state and still check this site occasionally. People driving 55 in a 30, blowing through stop signs and red lights, pulling crazy moves just to save 2.5 seconds. It's terrible and the police don't seem interested in enforcing anything. I've written my local office a few times but doubt it's having any impact. They'd rather pay lip service when someone is killed than do anything proactive. I'm not ragging on cops, it just seems to be the current state of the world

TIL Framingham has suburbs.

I once covered Ashland as a reporter, then got promoted to the Big F.

Framingham was still a town then, wasn't it? Or can you call anything a suburb if nearby bigger neighbor has city-like problems? (In Framingham's case, without the good parts)

Amazing but true.

How you gonna keep 'em down on the farm after they've seen Framingham.

Is Natick a suburb or is it like Framingham's Cambridge?

If you like, Frambridge.

QED.

Somehow, I'm picturing this SUV doing a side somersault vault and sticking the landing on the tracks.
