The Zoning Board of Appeal this week approved developer Joe Hassell's plans for a six-story, 45-unit apartment building on what is now a vacant lot at 34 B St., next to the similar building he'd earlier built at the corner of B and West 5th streets in South Boston.

The two buildings, in fact, will share an entrance to underground parking, 22 spaces for the new building.

The new building will have eight affordable units>

The BPDA board approved the new, $13-million building in June.

They look like dormitories at Northeastern University but more permanent housing beats out vacant lots anytime, regardless of what it looks like.
