Carjacking in Dorchester ends with chase down I-93 and crash in Milton

Boston Police report that shortly after 1 a.m. today, a man jumped into a woman's car and sped off - with the woman's young female cousin in the front seat.

Police say two officers soon spotted the car on Washington Street and managed to pull the car over. But as officers approached the car, the guy slammed on the gas, slightly grazing one of them. Police say the officers "observed a female, believed to be the victim of the carjacking, slumped over in the front passenger's side seat."

The officers jumped in their cruiser and chased him as far as Columbia Road, where they lost him. Officers soon spotted him on East Cottage Street, but he refused to stop and sped off southbound on I-93 Boston and state police lost him near exit 5, but Milton and Braintree police joined in the search and found the car crashed into a building on Randolph Avenue in Milton - where police found the young victim, who was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Police then released the hounds, who found him nearby.

Pernell Brown, 39, of Boston, was arrested on charges of kidnapping, failure to stop for a police officer, carjacking, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, driving to endanger and trespassing.
