This area of Allston scares me (23 year old male here.) There are always so many thugs and wild packs of teens around late at night. I feel like this area attracts alot of people from other, less desirable, parts of Boston.

The undergrad students actually make me feel safer. While they are no little angels themselves, they are not stabbing people outside the kells, and beating random people on the street. There is a good police presence in this area, but i would like to see officers on bike/foot, as well as the cruisers.

I've been around that area for 20+ years now, and in recent years it's seemed to have attracted a large number of thuggish teens and 20-somethings who are most certainly not connected to the colleges, nor do they seem to have roots in the neighborhood. Why the change? I don't know, but it's turned a neighborhood where the biggest concern was drunk college kids into an area where this type of shit happens regularly. Like the OP said, while the drunken college kids aren't angels, they aren't beating and stabbing people.

Eh, don't worry the mayor is going to give ever single one of these choir boys down on their luck a 'summer job'.
