Dedham man charged with armed holdup in the Back Bay; could be linked to other attacks

Boston Police report arresting Peter Papangelis, 38, of Dedham, on charges he and an accomplice held up two women at 50 Dalton St. shortly before midnight yesterday.

Police say Papangelis put a knife to the back of one of the women and demanded she empty her pockets. The woman threw her purse down and ran. Then, police say, the men did the same thing - toward Boylston Street, pursued by two witnesses who watched them get into a red sedan and head inbound.

Police say they tracked the car to Dedham, where, aided by Dedham and State Police, they arrested Papangelis. They add they now suspect Papangelis was involved in an earlier armed robbery and that their investigation continues.
