Pizza delivery guy held up in Roslindale, not far from where another delivery guy held up last week

AlertNewEngland reports a driver for the Same Old Place in Jamaica Plain was held up tonight while making a delivery at 100 Brookway Rd. in Roslindale's Archdale project.

The robbery comes a week after a driver for Romano's in Roslindale was attacked and robbed at knifepoint by six men on Bradeen Street, just outside Archdale.

The Archdale Project is one of Boston's most shameful developments. It is hidden from view, tucked behind rows of three-deckers that have been reasonably maintained, some new condos, and even a nice ballpark. Peek behind the face of Washington Street and you see what may be our finest example of the classic run-down brick cellblocks where families are supposed to live. Out of sight out of mind I guess until we are literally attacked by its reality.

Those projects were there for many years before they became a crime pit. Granted they are nasty, and should never have been built - like all of Boston's public housing projects - but if three deckers were built there, they'd be 'out of sight' too.

When Boston's public housing projects were built, they were supposed to be for people who could afford to rent in private housing, but just couldn't find a place to rent because the private sector wasn't building. Over time, due to political choices, they became housing of last resort. That's when they became 'cellblocks.'
