Three charged with beating, trying to kidnap woman's boyfriend in downtown garage

Updated Tuesday afternoon.

Boston Police report a man who had just pulled into a space in a Tufts Medical Center garage on Tremont Street yesterday afternoon was pulled out by three men who parked their van next to him and who then beat him and tried to stuff him in the van.

Police say two of his attackers are the brothers of his girlfriend, who was in the car with him, along with another woman and a 4-year-old.

Police say the victim managed to break free during the 12:45 p.m. beating:

After breaking free, the female occupant says her boyfriend fled on foot to the lower floors of the garage but her brothers fled in the direction of the upper floors. During the altercation, the female victim states that her brothers, one of whom was in possession of a firearm, attempted to remove her and her son from the car but they were unsuccessful. A search of the upper floors enabled officers to locate three males who fit the descriptions of the suspects.

Ernie Garcia, 26, of Brockton, Alexander Torres, 38, of Providence and Ken Torres, 32, of Bridgewater were all charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and attempted kidnapping. Police say they've yet to find the boyfriend - or the gun one of the brothers allegedly had.

Firefighters also responded to the scene, initially on reports somebody was attempting to commit suicide by jumping from the garage - witnesses may have seen the boyfriend attempting to escape.

Innocent, etc.
