Sure

We sure have a lot of gun violence in Boston, and neither the mayor of Boston or New York can get a federal lawmaker, like Scott Brown or John Kerry or any one of 10 Mass Congressmen to take a look at it. Our only option to overcome the NRA stranglehold on federal gun legislation (even just for illegal guns) is a massively popular movement.

Hey!

Good luck with that! I'm sure the NRA fears the Hello Kitty as much as I do.

It's also...

...MASSIVELY well funded by the people who sell guns. That money goes into a lot of lobbying and media work. I would go out on a limb and say that also contributes in a large way as to why they're so powerful.

How about we actually win the war on illegal drugs, which are responsible for ~98% of gun related crime, first?

By win you mean STOP the War on Drugs right?
Cause that's the only way to win.

9 shootings today - BPD incompetence continues

By on

9 men shot, 2 of them dead - business as usual.

Bunch of smelly people set up camp in a public park - BPD spends millions of dollars making sure they don't do anything naughty!

Hey guys: spend less time protecting hateful bigots, driving around in your cruisers to important meetings, and guarding holes in the ground. More time dealing with ACTUAL CRIME.

Three dead ten shot and school starting in less than a month. The numbers would have been higher except for the great work by the nurses and doctors at Boston Medical

Dominican Festival

By on

Sunday was the Dominican festival in Franklin Park, the area where these shootings took place. There was a lot going on in the neighborhood until around 10:30pm, at which point it quieted down pretty quickly. I saw a fair number of police around, but there were thousands of people partying all day.

I'm not pointing fingers, I'm just saying there was a potential common theme about yesterday that the postings about the shootings have neglected.
