Man charged with Dudley Square beating that left woman bleeding and barely conscious

A man suspected of beating and robbing a woman outside the Walgreens on Washington Street in Roxbury on Oct. 13 was arrested Friday by officers who recognized him from a wanted poster, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

James Keane, 47, had bail set at $5,000 at his arraignment yesterday on charges of armed robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and larceny over $250, the DA's office says.

According to prosecutors, Keane and his victim, a 47-year-old woman who knew him as "Jimmy," got into an argument in the Walgreens at 2275 Washington St., around 2 p.m.

She left the store and was approached by the man near a bank at the intersection of Washington and Roxbury streets, where he pushed her to the ground, grabbed her head and slammed it against the sidewalk before stealing her iPad, prosecutors said.

Innocent, etc.
