Threatening someone with a gun, a knife, tying them to a tree and putting a bag over their head....sure makes your snarky comment about coffee choice seem a bit obnoxious now, doesn't it?
Why do these boards have to so quickly devolve into snarkiness? I don't see what's with all the hating on the various neighborhoods. We're all Bostonians, and want what's best for the city. Must we keep tearing people down who live here just because we don't like the way others dress or what coffee people drink? It's so f'ing childish.

Welcome to the internet.
We're all Bostonians, and want what's best for the city.
Ha ha, good one. A lot of Bostonians seem to get a lot of pleasure out of pointing and laughing at anyone who's experiencing misfortune. Apparently it's the only way they can feel better about themselves.
There is no way that Vaughn had the knowledge of the whole tree thing. Look at the time stamps of the posts on this and that becomes obvious. As it stood, it was a guy getting robbed at Jamaica Pond. No death, not hospitalization, and no details about the worrisome things that happened with the robbery.
I'm guessing you've never seen the posts where the game of "what neighborhood did the murder take place in, really?" has been played. Yup, and I am guilty of that, but it happens. So, coffee and transportation choice of a robbery victim is relatively tame in comparison.
Police Officer Neva Coakley said this is a “very active case.” While a local neighborhood watch group has sent around an email with two further —- and worrisome —— details of the robbery, police neither confirmed nor denied those aspects of the case. Jamaica Plain News is refraining from publishing those details at this time.
as much as JP News. Why not at least give a description of the perps, maybe an artist's rendition? As for the 'worrisome' details, it certainly is unusual to hear wording like that that. Generally media outlets (or even blogs) will still report details, but with a disclaimer such as 'alleged' or 'allegedly' this or that happened.
Hey, this is Chris Helms with Jamaica Plain News. I'm not 100 percent sure I made the right call withholding those (alleged!) details in the initial report, but police said it might help short-term in their investigation.
The redacted police report I was given did not have detailed descriptions of the perps.

from the neighborhood email
the other "worrisome details":
"Two young men put a bag over his head, tied him to a tree, and forced him to give up his passwords"
Why would they not report
the 'worrisome' details? They should be reported, along with a description of the perps. This is a very violent and frightening crime
