Police: Roslindale traffic stop ends with two arrested, loaded gun, heroin seized

Boston Police report officers investigating why a car was parked facing the wrong way on Cornell Street at Colberg Avenue Friday afternoon wound up arresting the driver on gun charges and his passenger on drug charges.

Police say that when the officers approached the car around 3:45 p.m., the two people inside were "moving in such a way as if to suggest or indicate either drug usage or a drug transaction."

Officers removed the suspects from the vehicle after observing both of them grabbing for and reaching towards a black bag on the front passenger-side floor area. Officers then performed a pat frisk of the bag and recovered a loaded American Tactical .45 caliber ACP semi-automatic handgun. Officers later recovered heroin and prescription pills from the bag as well.

Tyrone Fleurimont, 27, of Roslindale, who already has a long criminal record that includes convictions for unlawful possession of firearms, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Jessica Hamaty, 20, of Dedham, was charged with the same offenses as well as possession of heroin and illegal possession of Suboxone, police say.

Innocent, etc.

Roslindale is getting worse! In the past couple of years I have seen hoodlums and drug addicts walk up and down my street. I have seen them on other Roslindale streets while I am driving. I have never seen this many before and now it is an everyday occasion.

How did you know they were hoodlums and drug addicts?

I live in Roslindale. About 30% of the houses in my immediate block have occupants who are Boston Police employees, or retired police employees.

When there have been problems, like an elderly lady driving through a fence, one of them is there immediately with their police radio.

this stuff has gone on as long as I've lived here - the police have only recently gotten better about picking people up (seriously - they can catch a lot just by enforcing traffic rule around here). What bugs me is that people aren't reporting what they see to the police.

How can you report something anonymously, besides tweeting it?

BPD has both a voice and text number for reporting things anonymously.

I tried to text them information several times and it didn't work. I do not understand why they do not have an anonymous for to fill out on their website.

I assure you that functioning drug addicts, functioning alcoholics, along with those strung out on the drug of choice or alcohol are nothing new to Roslindale.

As far as "hoodlums" go, I'll assume you are speaking in code. Trust me, I was at Sacred Heart with a good class of hoodlum (criminal records by the time they were out of high school) back in the 80s, and those hoodlums were probably the proper hue for you to overlook them.

I'm glad they were caught, but the premise of car parked the wrong way doesn't make sense. Parking every which way is standard practice on Cornell, Beech, and all of the cross streets around there. Even with people in the car and the engine running, it's common practice to pull over to whichever curb has your destination house or a free spot without turning to face the "right" way.

If they investigate every car parked the wrong way in this neighborhood, they'll be extremely busy.

Imagine if the police investigated every car parked the wrong direction, in a bike lane, speeding, accelerating through yellow lights, rolling through stop signs, parked within 20 feet of an intersection, double parked, etc. When would they have any time to bust all those scofflaw cyclists?
