Police: East Boston drug dealer swallows some of his product, tries to pull out switchblade when officers show up

Boston Police report arresting two men on drug charges near the troubled Maverick Landing apartment complex Saturday evening.

Police say drug-unit officers conducting a stakeout due to resident complaints about drug sales and gun violence in the Maverick Square development spotted two guys in two different cars conducting what sure seemed like a drug transaction around 8:40 p.m. After one of the cars left, officers followed it, stopped it and arrested Joseph G. Maraio of East Boston on a charge of possession of crack cocaine, after finding a plastic bag with what appeared to be crack in it.

Officers then stopped the second vehicle, but its driver, Mark Yarde, 35, of East Boston, did not care to be detained, police say:

He pushed away violently, moving through the vehicle to the passenger’s side in order to escape. Officers gave chase and after a foot pursuit, officers caught up to the suspect who struggled violently. During the struggle, the suspect continually reached for his waistband and was observed placing an unknown white item in his mouth, chewing, and swallowing it. Officers were finally able to apprehend the suspect and observed a white residue that smelled of cocaine around his mouth, lips, and on his tongue. Officers recovered approximately $245 in US currency and a spring loaded knife from the front pockets of the suspect. During an inventory search of the suspect’s vehicle, officers recovered approximately $25,000 in US currency, a large plastic bag containing a substance believed to be marijuana (packaged for sale), two digital scales, two cell phones, and two bundles totaling 25 acid films.

Yarde was charged with distribution of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, resisting arrest, possession of a dangerous weapon and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer. He faces higher penalties on the drug charges because he's been convicted before on similar counts, police say.

Innocent, etc.

What's an acid film? Was he watching "Zabriskie Point?"

I hope that youre simply joking. If not, two bundles of acid are just that...and dividing the total between 2 packages/bundles.
