Police charge man as Green Line masturbator

Frechette

Transit Police report arresting a Medford man for alleged open and gross behavior on a Green Line trolley last week.

According to police, Michael Frechette, 45, got a bit too close to a woman on an inbound trolley around 1:15 p.m. on March 21 near Arlington station. Then, police say:

The female, noting there was room for the male to have his own space, moved away from the suspect male. The male followed her and again positioned himself in close proximity. Shortly thereafter the female observed the suspect male masturbating. Another passenger intervened and demanded the suspect male cease his behavior. The suspect male exited the trolley at North Station and vacated the area.

Police say officers caught up with Frechette around 10:15 a.m. yesterday at Welllington station, where they arrested him.

Innocent, etc.

He'll probably have to move now. Creep lives pretty close to two schools - hopefully too close for a registered sex offender.

I know a few young women in his neighborhood who will be happy about that.

As gross as the charged offense is, he hasn't yet been proven to have done anything. So, feel free to trust your own instincts about letting your kids play at the schools' playgrounds near his house, but I feel it is inappropriate to suggest that someone is a registered sex offender who has not yet been found to be one.

Also, even if he did do the deed described, that doesn't necessarily mean that he has a thing for little kids. I would leave that to the court and SORB to figure out. Again, please trust your own instincts, but I would not paint everyone with such a broad brush.

Non pedophiles are often treated like pedophiles with severe restrictions on their lives. He could be banned from using the internet, never mind how necessary that is in today's world. Even if he is declared a sex offender, that does not mean the neighborhood he lives in should be considered any more dangerous. I would rather see him get treatment then pushed to the margins of society. Which would be better for society as a whole?

ive been called a troll here because i've cited DOJ findings on the adverse affects strong punishments actually have on crime in general, as well as sexual based offenses.

people dont actually care what prevents crime, they would happily put more people in danger, statistically, and get a sense of satisfaction and revenge. it is understandable, in a sense. a lot of people are actually much more simple than they'd like you to believe.

I don't have small kids - I have young adults. They have friends that live near this guy and his loser brother.

I don't need a court to tell me that he's a nuisance - I know a number of young ladies who can tell you a lot of stories about these creeps and how they behave toward young women walking home from the bus or from the two nearby middle schools.

I'm hoping that, this time, the court WILL decide to finally tag this winner with the label he has deserved for a long time.

He will take the train to court and on his way home he will play pocket pool again. I hope he gets caught by female police officers who drag him to court before a female DA and a female Judge.

Every time I read this headline, I just imagine this guy helping Green Line trains jerk off. You know...because the trains don't have hands.
