Dorchester driver charged with hitting three cars, knocking down woman and running over her foot

When Joseph Morrison drove into the back of an SUV stopped on Ellington Street at Blue Hill Avenue around 8:30 this morning, he tried to flee by backing up - only to plow into a minivan. Then, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office charges, he put his Altima back in drive and hit the SUV driver, who'd gotten out to try to stop him, knocking her to the ground and driving over her foot.

A Boston city worker who watched the whole thing followed Morrison, 27, - and watched him rear-end a Hummer on Washington Street, the DA's office reports. The worker ran up and managed to keep Morrison restrained until police arrive, prosecutors say.

Morrison, 27, was arraigned in Dorchester Municipal Court on three counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury and single counts of leaving the scene of an accident causing property damage and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, the DA's office says, adding he was also charged with having an expired inspection sticker.

A prosecutor asked for bail of $10,000; Judge Thomas Kaplanes set bail at $5,500.

Innocent, etc.

None of the cars that were hit were wearing high viz. Naturally, Mr Morrison can't be expected to see them without.
