Woman shot in Mattapan; 14-year-old charged

Boston Police report arresting a 14-year-old on charges he shot a woman at 563 Norfolk St. around 5:30 p.m. yesterday.

Police say the victim, 23, was rushed to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

As officers canvassed the area for suspects they were pointed in the direction of Evelyn Street, then further directed through several backyards on Clarkwood Street. Officers were finally shown an open door in a garage near 39 Clarkwood Street, then directed into an open basement at that location. There they located three suspects, one of whom was positively identified as the suspect who possessed and discharged the firearm near 563 Norfolk Street.

The teen, not named because of his age, was charged with being delinquent for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a variety of firearms offenses.
