There seems to be no change to the pace of LTC holders murdering people in Boston... What happened?

First, every murder is senseless and unwarranted no matter who is killed. I feel very uncomfortable making this statement, however it is factual and reality homicides in our this City is down significantly year-to-date comparing to all the other cities around the United States, I have an increase of homicides in the states
This doesn't negate that some family and someone right now is in a great amount of pain and hurt that I could never communicate in words or feel.

If you eliminated guns from the face of the earth, the murder rate would go down probably ten thousand percent.

If you eliminated gun laws and everything that goes with them, (LTCs, felons rights, etc) from the face of the earth, the murder rate would probably stay the same.

If you eliminated LTC holders from the face of the earth, the murder rate would probably stay the same.

If you accept the above facts, then the guns are really the problem not the laws correct?

Criminals are the problem. If they didn't exist there'd be no crime. Boston's higher murder rate in the 1960s-80s was mostly stabbings and not shootings.

Huh? Where does it say LTC holders are murdering people? Thats one of the more baseless and unsubstantiated claims I've heard about guns... Over labor day weekend, Chicago reached its 512th homicide. Incredibly tragic and sad what is happening in that city. I am willing to bet 99% are committed with illegal owned/possessed guns and that the gun "owner" did not posses a LTC. I know you're anti-gun, but stop making such stupid comments!

If you got rid of gun registration completely, gun violence would probably be the same right?

You seem confused. In MA(and most states) you need to obtain an LTC first (license to carry) prior to purchasing a gun. Further, gun registration and obtaining an LTC are not one in the same. Who is suggesting getting rid of gun registration? Seems like a straw man to me. And since most gun related deaths are committed by people who illegally posses their firearm, what good is both the LTC and gun registration?

People kill, and they use guns to help them.

If there were no guns, murder rates would go down. If there were no criminals, murder rates would also go down, probably further.

Until women stop having babies, we will always have criminals,

My heart and prayers go out to the family, friends, the community in which this despicable act took place.

I I arrived on the scene after the murder had happened. this young man, this father, this some's one baby, this some's one baby, uncle, friend, Bostonian and resident of this city body was still lying on the street coverage with a yellow plastic by the authorities.

I will never get used to seeing a young person's body lying on the city street. we as Citizens and human beings should never get used to seeing or hearing about a young person or any one's demise.

To the Talking Heads please hear all of us who live in the Inner City your assumptions why such a tragedy happens, yard jokes for your sarcasm. it is certainly not funny in any form. Honestly there's absolutely no reason why it should happen. It is certainly something, we as people of color must find out why it continues to happened and work towards attempting to keep it from happening. since Cain and Abel humans have murdered.
Christ oh Lord have mercy on all of us and forgive us.

The Herald reports the crowd grew hostile at the police and smashed a BPD cruiser window.

(Conveniently left out by Adam).

It was not without reason, bodies shouldn't be left on the street for hours. It was likely very near to his home, meaning his family couldn't look outside without seeing his body under a tarp.

Isn't it procedure to leave the crime scene as it is, (if the person is deceased) until the police finish the on scene investigation?

THIS IS A BOLD FACE LIE!!! The crowd was very emotional due to a loved one being murdered. I KNOW BECAUSE I WAS THERE. The friends and family of this young man is suffering because they are very tight. Tragedy and grieving doesn't come with a handbook or rules!!!!!!!!

First and foremost, you don't smash up police cars.

A person has died, their friends and family are in pain. Cram it!

When the body cameras come, and they ARE coming, what's going to happen to that family member who destroyed the cruiser window?

Last night she wasn't arrested. Last night, she got a break because her relative was just executed and for one reason or another, she took it out on a marked BPD car.

But when that camera on my chest is filming, that's malicious destruction of property. An arrestable felony.

God forbid I take into consideration the fact that this person is seeing her loved one decased on the street. The cameras will just capture a person destroying a car window. Since I am expected to enforce the letter of the law, then she would have been arrested.

But she wasn't last night. Because there were no cameras. And I still had discretion.

Just food for thought.

Thank you for showing kindness at a horrible time for this family. None of us know what we would do if it was our son or brother. Remember the sister raised him cause his mother died when he was still a child. So for his sister that was like losing her son. Again thank you.

You are absolutely right. This is definitely a tragedy for this family, whom I know this is my boyfriends nephew. Roland was a good boy.And he loved his family more than most young kids.

The statement is false and incorrect. I truly believe whoever wrote that and I have no need to apologize to the family. in addition need to take a course on grieving and Trauma.
You must first understand everybody Grieves differently. some may grieve in an healthy way.
I was present when the Boston police vehicle window was shattered,. it was not out of direct hostility towards Boston police. it was as a result of an individual just finding out a family relative has been murdered. causing an uncontrollable grief of pounding. unfortunately this particular time then was at the back of a police vehicle.

And obviously there is no good justification for murder, but Boston's murder rate is INCREDIBLY low compared to just about every other major city in the country, nonetheless any other city of its size. Boston's a major city, murder is going to happen one way or another people.

Bostons murder rate is higher than Fort Worths, and comparable (bit lower) than Houstons. Also higher than homicide in Vegas. In addition it has a higher transient population of students less likely to commit murder.

It is hardly INCREDIBLY low.

It is INCREDIBLY low. 50-60 murders a year in a city with 700K+ people is INCREDIBLY low.

... It is still "too many".

Am I supposed to know what LTC means? Can someone translate this to plain English. Thanks

You need an LTC, generally with no restrictions" to carry a concealed weapon in this state. The background check is akin to what they do for the CIA/FBI/NSA - if you meet someone with an unrestricted LTC, that's probably the safest person to be around since they probably don't even have a speeding ticket to their name.

In reality, LTCs don't deter crime, neither do stupid gun laws that only affect people with LTCs. There's a reason that gun violence is a problem in areas of Boston but not Weston/Wellesley/Wayland - violence is a SOCIOECONOMIC problem, not a gun problem.
