DA: Woman told husband she would stab him and then she did - fatally

Prosecutors say Karen Edwards, 36, of Brooklyn, NY, was ordered held without bail today at her arraignment in West Roxbury Municipal Court, where a judge ordered her to undergo psychological testing, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Edwards was charged with stabbing her husband Collins shortly after midnight at 88 Wensley St. According to the DA's office:

Assistant District Attorney Amy Galatis told the court that Karen Edwards, Collins Edwards, and two other people were inside the residence when the victim and defendant became involved in a verbal argument. In the course of that argument, Karen Edwards allegedly told her husband that she was going to stab him. She allegedly went into the kitchen, retrieved a large knife, and stabbed the man in the chest. In addition to that fatal injury, he sustained additional minor injuries believed to be defensive wounds.

Collins Edwards ran from the scene and Karen Edwards chased him, Galatis said. A knife was recovered along the path of her flight. Responding emergency medical technicians transported Collins Edwards to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead of his injuries. Boston Police took Karen Edwards into custody and she allegedly made admissions that she had stabbed him. She did not have any injuries, Galatis said.

The Globe reports the apartment is Collin Edwards's mother and that the couple's 11-month-old son was in the apartment at the time of the stabbing.

Innocent, etc.
