Man spots two guys breaking into his Dorchester home via his surveillance camera; now they're in custody

Boston Police report arresting two alleged burglars - and seizing two guns - after a Dorchester resident spotted them while monitoring his apartment from work via a surveillance camera.

Police say the 231 Washington St. resident called 911 around 5:15 a.m. on Friday to report the break-in:

On arrival, officers observed a black male sitting inside a white motor vehicle with its engine idling and a second black male attempting to run away from the scene. In short time, officers were able to subdue and apprehend both suspects.

In the car, police say, officers found an Amadeo Rossi S.A. M68 .38 SPL gun.

After chasing down and catching the running man, police say, a search of his attempted escape path turned up a loaded Smith and Wesson gun, as well as a screwdriver and a pair of white rubber gloves.

Dedrick Lindsey, 33, the guy caught right away, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm (second offense), unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, attempting to commit breaking and entering in the nighttime and trespassing, police say.

Leon Spear, 27, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm (second offense), unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm on a public way, attempting to commit breaking and entering in the nighttime and possession of burglarious tools (screwdriver).

Innocent, etc.
