Police pull loaded gun, baby from car parked in front of Codman Square hydrant

Boston Police report arresting three people on gun charges after officers approached their car, parked in front of a hydrant at Washington Street and Southern Avenue Monday night.

Police say the three adults had a ten-month-old infant with them and that officers found "a fully loaded Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver unsecured on the floor under the infant’s car seat." Police also recovered "approximately 28 grams of what appeared to be marijuana, a digital scale, and approximately $285 in US paper currency."

Police say officers initially approached the car around 10:10 p.m. to find out why the driver was parked in front of a hydrant. Once they learned he had no license, they ordered him and his two passengers out - and discovered the gun and drugs while doing an inventory before having the car towed.

The driver, Jyarie Anthony Shoulders, 20, and his two adult passengers - William Pope-Dedrick, 21, and Sierra Braxton-Eason, 19 - all of Dorchester, were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a Class D drug with intent to distribute, police say.

Innocent, etc.

The link has info about several arrests last night where BPD pulled guns off the street.

These guys & gals made it to work in the snow, and did their jobs on a night when many of us barely left the house.

Thanks, BPD!

That's basically my neighborhood. Feels good to know someone's got their eye out for this stuff. Feels lousy that they jeep finding it every day they look. So many good folks living here don't deserve their neighbors' reckless ways.
