Logan worker from Mattapan faces federal coke-distribution charges

A federal grand jury today indicted Francisco Torres, 37, of Mattapan, on two counts of distributing cocaine and one count of conspiring with others to distribute cocaine.

Torres got caught by Homeland Security investigators following the trail of narcotics purchased from an overseas Web site by a man in New Hampshire. Their interest was further piqued when they learned that one of the man's other sources of drugs was Torres, who works for JetBlue and who has ICE clearance for the ramps and planes at the international terminal. However, the indictment centers on his arrest near Tremont and West Brookline streets in the South End on Feb. 16.

According to an affidavit by a Homeland Security agent who worked on the case, the New Hampshire man quickly agreed to become a "cooperating witness" and arranged to buy 250 grams of cocaine from Torres in the South End.

Around 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 15, the man met with Torres in his 2002 gold Mercedes at Tremont and West Brookline and gave him $10,500 in federally supplied bills. In return, the affidavit says, Torres gave him a Forever 21 bag containing an Apple TV box, inside of which was the cocaine.

The New Hampshire man then arranged to meet Torres again on Feb. 16 to buy 850 grams of coke, according to the affidavit. This time, Torres got out of the car, and as they walked down Tremont, the man gave him $33,000, in a Whole Foods bag, in exchange for which Torres handed him a large, brown Timberland shopping bag with 850 grams of cocaine inside a shoe box in the back.

Law-enforcement officers who'd staked out the location moved in. The agent writes Torres threw the bag with the money over a fence, but officers recovered it.

He now faces between 5 and 40 years on each of the distribution charges and up to 20 years on the conspiracy charge, the US Attorney's office reports.

Innocent, etc.

If only he gave the guy a Pepsi and not coke he wouldn't be in trouble at all. (Except in Portland.)

I'd need to know more about the suspect's immigration status and how he got Logan clearance to assign blame to those three. I noticed the ICE agent wrote that not all of the facts were in his affidavit, just enough to establish probable cause, so we'll have to wait.

More interesting is that State Police Troop F at Logan appears to have little or no mention in the affidavit. I'm glad the case is in federal court where the sentences are more severe but I hope this doesn't indicate a rift between ICE and MSP at the airport, where we need all eyes working together.

Since when have you bothered to actually check your facts before spewing your spew?

Is this a new feature since you were so very absurdly and ridiculously wrong about the social security numbers?

Why Barack Obama’s Social Security card application might have included a Connecticut mailing address is something of a curiosity, as he had no known connection to that state at the time, but by itself that quirk is no indicator of fraud. -- Snopes

Are you referring to Barack Obama's social security number that begins with 042, reserved for someone with a Connecticut mailing address, a state he had no connection to? Not absurd, I'm just as curious as far-left Snopes. Here's a helpful guide Swirly, to add to your vast knowledge.

You were swearing up and down that you would arrest anyone during a traffic stop if their social security number did not match their STATE OF BIRTH.

Liar liar fraud on fire hanging from the electric wire.

Go away and go fuck yourself. Fake cop.

p.s. O-Fraud-Shell: where's that "passport stamp" from your domestic flight into a NATIONAL airport, eh?

Wow Swirly, this angry on a Friday morning? Take a few deep breaths. Look forward to the weekend and the warming weather, don't stress about me.

I believe I once wrote that a person claiming to have no connection with Connecticut presenting a SSN mailed to a Connecticut address should pique anyone's interest. You don't have to be a cop. I would certainly ask further questions. I never knew that SSN's were assigned by region until a great field training officer (now deceased) gave me a copy of the list. It proved helpful in many cases. My favorite was that "Railroad Workers" got numbers between 433-439 and 659-665.

UHub, is no place for hate.

Go home, everybody. This week's Alanis Morisette Award for the Improper Use of Irony has been awarded. FISH, you can collect your award at the state police barracks downtown, if they'll let you in the front door.

Prior to 1972/1973, social security numbers were assigned by field offices. Therefore, the Area Number does not necessarily represent the State of residence of the applicant, either prior to 1972/1973 or since.

The guy is from Puerto Rico. I trust that even you realize that makes him an American citizen, right?

It's like looking in the mirror and saying Bloody Mary three times, except in this case you get some fat fuckwit in his undershorts who pretends to be a cop online.

It's interesting to note that the only people using angry, swear words here are "progressives" Swirly and Sock puppet. When I say this is no place for hate, please note that I have never used swears or other invective on this site. It's both unprofessional and ignorant. If the hatred stems from my correct prediction and support of a Trump win, so be it, but no need for hateful comments or swears. Childish.
