Gunfire followed by arrest in Mattapan; police say suspect tried to hide gun by tossing it on garage roof

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man on gun charges not long after officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Norfolk Street near Morton Street Sunday night.

Police say gang-unit officers monitoring a crowd near where the gunfire report came in, around 9:55 p.m. heard a guy known to them, Dimitri R. Harris, 26, screaming into a phone:

As they approached, officers observed that Harris was now standing further down the street near the driveway of 449 Norfolk Street. Harris immediately told officers that he didn’t have anything on him and gave the officers permission to check. Officers stood by with Harris as additional units canvassed the area for discarded items. Soon officers were directed to a first-floor porch of a residence, and from there, officers observed a black firearm on the garage roof. Officers recovered the loaded Ruger LCP 380 Auto firearm and arrested Harris.

Harris was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawfully carrying a loaded firearm and trespassing.

Innocent, etc.

in the area, how does one differentiate gunshots? I mean, i have heard legit gunfire before, some of these fireworks, I honestly can't tell. I live blocks from here and the fireworks are constant, all summer.
NH fireworks dealers actually send mailers advertising their specials in my neighborhood, which I want to say is illegal.
Maybe it's a desensitizing tactic.....
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
