Teen arrested after midday gunfire on Elm Hill Avenue in Roxbury

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of gunfire on Elm Hill Avenue near Cheney Street around 1:20 p.m. yesterday arrested a 17-year-old they spotted running away from the scene.

Officers gave chase and observed the suspect pull a black object, which appeared to be a firearm, from his waist band area. The suspect extended his right arm with the firearm still in his hand and discarded it into the rear area of 40 Crawford Street. Officers were able to recover the loaded Black Cobra .380 caliber and safely secure it.

The teen, too young to have his name released, was charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and unlawful possession of a loaded firearm, police say.
