Man wanted for Roslindale armed robbery faces new charges after his arrest

Boston Police report gang-unit officers in Roxbury yesterday spotted a man wanted for an armed robbery on American Legion Highway in Roslindale and arrested him for that incident - and then charged him for the loaded gun and heroin they say he was carrying.

According to police, Alexander Soto, 21, robbed somebody at gunpoint on American Legion Highway, in front of St. Michael Cemetery on June 23.

Gang-unit officers spotted him on George Street in Roxbury around 1:30 p.m. yesterday, police say.

A search of the suspect enabled officers to recover a firearm later determined to be a loaded, black Glock 27 firearm with nine rounds of .40 caliber ammunition. In addition to the firearm, the suspect was found to be in possession of large amount of a brown powder believed to be heroin which was wrapped in plastic and covered in tinfoil.

He was arrested on the Roslindale warrant and then charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm on a public way and trafficking heroin, police say.
