Police: Two arrested, loaded gun seized as house party was breaking up on Langdon Street in Roxbury

Boston Police report arresting two men as a party at 26 Langdon St. was breaking up around 3:45 a.m. - one on gun charges, the second for allegedly spitting at and trying to choke one of the officers who'd arrested the first.

Police say officers on patrol stopped to monitor a large crowd gathered in front of 26 Langdon noticed one man in particular who seemed to be "attempting to secure an unknown object in the waistband area of his pants as he walked, leading the officers to believe he may be armed with a weapon." Police say Kelvin Jones, 25, of Dorchester, noticed the cops get out of their cruiser and walk towards him:

The suspect quickly removed the unknown object from his waist and placed it inside a parked motor vehicle which he then locked. The suspect then turned and fled on foot through several backyards before being stopped by additional responding units while scaling a fence. The officers retraced the suspect’s path of flight and located a discarded set of car keys which they then utilized to access the parked motor vehicle. Officers soon located and recovered a .45 caliber HK USP handgun loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition from underneath the driver’s seat. It was later determined that the firearm had previously been reported stolen in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Police say that as officers were chasing Jones and looking in his car for the object he'd placed there:

The large crowd which had initially been dispersing, became agitated by the officers’ presence. Several people began throwing plastic cups towards police vehicles on the street and yelling at the officers on scene in an aggressive manner. One such individual, later identified as Hassaun Daily, 27, of Jamaica Plain, spit on one of the officers and attempted to choke him at which time he was placed in custody after a violent struggle.

Jones was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and receiving stolen property, police say. Daily was charged with assault and battery on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, police say.

Both Jones and Daily were already known to police.

Innocent, etc.
