Police charge Hyde Park man turned his scooter into a mobile drug store

Boston Police report arresting a Hyde Park man on a variety of drug charges after officers say they found a variety of drugs stuffed into his scooter's front compartment yesterday afternoon.

Police say Dariel Guzman-Reyes, 20, was tooling down Standard Street in Mattapan when officers on patrol noticed him - and the fact that his scooter didn't have a registration sticker, around 1:25 p.m.

As the officers approached on foot, the male operator accelerated and drove towards a driveway at 143 Standard Street. Officers continued asking the male to stop, but he refused. Officers were able to apprehend the male and safely removed him from the scooter, placing him under arrest for Refusal to Submit to a Police Officer.

Officers recovered a large plastic bag containing nineteen individually-wrapped plastic bags of a tan, powdery substance believed to be Fentanyl from inside of the scooter’s front compartment. Also recovered was two small plastic bags containing thirteen rock-like substances believed to be crack cocaine, three individual packages of a green-leafy substance believed to be Marijuana and small blue pills which were discovered to be Oxycodone.

Guzman-Reyes was charged with trafficking Class A drugs, distribution of Class B drugs and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, police say.
