Disturbance in parking lot at Dorchester Burger King ends with two arrested on gun and drug charges

Boston Police report officers responding to a report of a disturbance at Burger King, 100 Washington St., wound up arresting both occupants of a pickup truck they spotted peeling out as they pulled in.

On arrival, officers observed an orange pickup truck exit the parking lot at a high rate of speed, nearly striking several of the illegally parked motor vehicles. Officers followed the fleeing vehicle and activated their lights and sirens after observing the vehicle commit additional traffic violations. The vehicle did not stop for the officers as it continued to travel at a high rate of speed towards Columbia Road. Due to heavy traffic in the area, the pickup truck was forced to come to a stop at a red light, at which time the officers approached to speak with the operator, later identified as 23-year-old Niles Vibert. As the officers began to make contact, the passenger, later identified as 22-year-old Davonte Bowden, suddenly exited the vehicle and turned towards the officer on the passenger side of the vehicle. The officer immediately performed a pat frisk at which time he clearly felt a firearm inside the suspect’s jacket pocket. The suspect was then placed in custody and the firearm was safely recovered. The weapon was later determined to be a loaded .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun fitted with a laser sight. Officers then removed the operator and placed him in custody without incident.

Police added that "a large crowd began to gather around the officers, creating a chaotic scene" and that they had the pickup towed to the B-2 station in Roxbury to continue their inventory - which results in the discovery of, among other things, 49 bottles of liquid THC.

Police say Bowden was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm and possession of a large capacity feeding device. Vibert was charged with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute and failure to stop for a police officer.

Innocent, etc.

Nice work getting the illegal gun off the street, despite the crowd trying to make life harder.

Ps- That said, having Nazis as part of the "support the blue" rally ain't a great look, either.

Ya, the cops shouldn’t have solicited the support of the Nazi party. Not a good look. Just like the BLM protestors shouldn’t have sought the support of people burning down police stations and looting targets.
Both statements are 100 percent false but going with the flow with the crazy posts on UHub.

if a crowd had stepped in to stop cops from killing George Floyd/Eric Garner/Rodney King/etc, that'd also have been described by the police as "the crowd trying to make life harder".

Something to keep in mind when we get these one-sided descriptions of these interactions.

So when cops stop idiots speeding around Boston at 1am, then take illegal guns off the street, you want a crowd to get in their faces so they the police don't repeat atrocities, some of which happened years or decades ago, and in other states?

If it turns out the crowd was just standing around filming, and nothing else, I'll retract my words. As I also will if the police acted improperly somewhere in the story.

But so far, there's nothing pointing to either of those. So in this specific situation, I say thanks again to BPD for taking that illegal gun off the street, and shame on anybody that made that task harder on them and potentially dangerous. Another gun (and the idiots carrying it) off the street is a good story here.

Hit the thumbs up button if you think that is a proper analogy. Curious to see how crazy people really are.

We didn’t have a choice who showed up to that. In fact, every cop I talked to hates that Super Racist America group, or whatever they’re called.

We know they do this to entice a reaction, knowing that white supremacists will rally to their cause. I also saw some counter protestors approach cops and try to coax them into a fight, calling them murderers and racists. Every cop I was around handled it well.
