Detroit man charged with shooting his own car in Roxbury

Boston Police report arresting a man they say fired one shot into his own car, blowing holes through the front windows on both the driver's and the passenger's sides, early this morning.

Police say officers responding to a report of gunfire from the department's ShotSpotter system around 1:15 a.m. on Harold Street near Hutchings and Seaver streets found a black Chevy Impala, with windows apparently damaged by bullets and with a man and a woman inside.

Officers spoke to the operator and the passenger believing the vehicle may have sustained ballistic damage relative to the shots fired call they were responding to. Both occupants were removed from the vehicle as officers and detectives continued their investigation. Upon receiving additional information, officers were able to determine that the operator of the vehicle had in fact discharged a firearm into the vehicle. The operator was taken into custody. Within the vehicle, officers recovered a black revolver loaded with four rounds of live ammunition and one spent casing. Three additional rounds of live ammunition were recovered beneath the driver’s seat.

Keith Rodgers, 34, of Detroit, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm on a public way, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. The woman was released, uncharged, police say.

Innocent, etc.
