Two teens tried but failed to hold up Mattapan market at knifepoint; both arrested, police say

Boston Police report arresting two Mattapan teens on charges they tried to hold up Ortiz Convenience, 1300 Blue Hill Ave., but ran away after the clerk refused to give them any money, shortly before 9:40 p.m. on Wednesday.

According to police:

On arrival, officers were informed that the two suspects had entered the store and demanded cash from the register while displaying knives held within the waistlines of their pants. The two suspects fled on foot after the clerk refused to comply. Additional responding units soon located the two suspects walking near Norfolk Street and Clarkwood Street where they were placed in custody after being positively identified. Officers then recovered a knife from the waistband areas of each of the two suspects.

Menyelik Ambrose and Brandon Williams, both 18, were charged with armed assault to rob, police say.
