Man charged with speeding down Melnea Cass Boulevard with a loaded gun

Boston Police report officers who initially pulled a man over for making an unsafe lane change at a high rate of speed on Melnea Cass Boulevard near Albany Street around 9:55 p.m. on Friday wound up arresting the driver for the loaded gun and large amount of marijuana he had with him.

Jonathan Lopez was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition for the 9-mm Glock with 10 rounds and the separate magazine with 5 rounds police say he had, as well as distribution of marijuana.

Innocent, etc.

You need probable cause to search. You need Reasonable belief that your safety is in danger (someone may have a gun or can reach somewhere where there is a gun) to frisk. People in cars can reach under the seat to grab a Gun, so officer can “frisk” under the seat to see if there is a gun there.
