Man charged with gunpoint robbery in Dorchester; police say he got victim's backpack but not his scooter, before they got him
Boston Police report arresting a man they say tried to rob somebody of his backpack and scooter early this morning at Callender and Lyford streets in Dorchester.
Police say that around 1:40 a.m., Voicy Sanders, 27, of Dorchester, pointed a gun at the victim. Sanders got the backpack, but the victim managed to flee on the scooter.
Live Boston reports police, with an assist from state troopers, found him nearby, and arrested him after a brief foot chase. Police say officers recovered "a loaded Walther P38 firearm with one round in the chamber and one round in the magazine."
Court records show he was scheduled for arraignment in Dorchester Municipal Court today on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm.
