Dorchester brawl ends with car chase, two arrested on gun charges, one of them just 16

Boston Police report arresting a Dorchester man and a teen too young to have his name released on gun charges following a "large fight" on Bullard Street Monday night.

Police say officers responding to the fight noticed a car leaving the scene at a high rate of speed - and blowing through a stop sign.

Not long after, officers pulled the car over at Talbot Street and Lithgow Street in Codman Square:

Officers noted that both the juvenile male and [Joseph Williams] Crawford appeared to be attempting to conceal objects in his waistband area. Officers removed Crawford from the vehicle, and while conducting a pat frisk, officers felt an object in his waistband consistent with a firearm. As officers attempted to secure Crawford, he began to actively resist officers, pulling away from officers' grasp and reaching towards his waistband toward the firearm in his waistband. Officers were able to take Crawford into custody without further incident.

Simultaneous to Crawford's arrest, officers began to try to secure the juvenile male in handcuffs. The juvenile male also actively resisted officers; during the struggle, a firearm fell from the front pocket area of his clothing. Officers were able to place the male into custody without incident.

Crawford's gun was a P80 Polymer 9mm firearm with one round in the chamber and seven in a magazine, police say. The 16-year-old had a P80 Polymer 9mm with one round in the chamber and fourteen rounds inserted in a magazine, police said.

Crawford was charged with carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and resisting arrest, police say. The ten was charged as being delinquent for carrying a loaded firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, possession of a large-capacity feeding device and resisting arrest, police say.

Innocent, etc.

While not expensive ($380 USD) the P80 Polymer is far different from the Saturday Night Specials of yesteryear.

They're growing up, normally it's a fourteen year old that gets arrested for something like this.
