A Plymouth man was ordered held in lieu of $2,000 bail today on charges he threw a 68-year-old man to the ground in front of J.J. Donovan's Tavern early Sunday, leaving his victim with a serious neck injury and a large forehead gash, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
Robert Buckley, 43, was arraigned today in Boston Municipal Court on a charge of assault and battery on a person over 60 causing serious bodily damage, the DA's office says. A judge ordered him to stay away from both the victim and J.J. Donovan's should he make bail.
The DA's office did not say why Buckley lunged at the man, who was there with relatives for a family celebration, around 12:45 a.m.
Buckley, clad in a long-sleeve white shirt and jeans with red underwear showing, then ran towards Congress Street, accompanied by another man, the DA's office reports.
Officers soon located a man matching the description at Atlantic Avenue and High Street and conducted an on-site ID with a family witness. The witness told police that the man, Buckley, was “100 percent” the person who threw the victim to the ground. The second man was not involved in the altercation and was not charged.
The DA's office says the victim was taken to Mass. General with "a serious neck injury that could have life-long ramifications," as well as a forehead gash bad enough to require plastic surgery.
Innocent, etc.

How do you get to be 43 years old and still think it's ok to get in a physical altercation. Go pick a fight with someone on the wharf in Plymouth and your body will be found in the spring.
