Early morning gunfire on Maple Street in Roxbury leads to man's arrest, seizure of gun loaded with 30 bullets

Boston Police report arresting a man they say fired a gun outside his apartment at 83 Maple St. in Roxbury around 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 10.

Gang-unit officers arrested Xavier Barrientos, 21, about 10:15 a.m. today at 1525 Commonwealth Ave. in Brighton, police say, adding that around 2:35 p.m., officers armed with a search warrant entered his apartment and found "a Luger Tech 9 equipped with a silencer, and a fully loaded high capacity 30 round feeding device with 30 rounds of ammunition."

Barrientos was initially charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, illegal possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, police say, adding he will face additional charges for the high-capacity gun found during the search.
