Cops investigating Hyde Park gunfire arrest four men trying to steal cars that had been left running, police say
Boston Police report the arrest of four men who got into several cars in the area of Beaver and Cleveland streets around 5 a.m. on Saturday - because their owners had left them running to warm them up - and even drove some of them a short distance up the street.
Police say the officers were already in the area to investigate gunshots in the area of River and Cleveland streets not long before. Police say the officers recovered shell casings, but that the shooter was gone by the time they arrived. No injuries reported.
When a dispatcher reported the car break-ins just around the corner, the officers headed up and found and arrested four men who matched descriptions from a witness: Jay Moses, 27, of Dorchester, Diamond Carter, 27, of Boston, Justin Creech, 24, of West Roxbury and Thomas Perkins, 24, of Hyde Park. All were charged with breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and attempted larceny of a motor vehicle, police say.
Innocent, etc.

Shouldn't police be arresting
Shouldn't police be arresting people who leave their cars idling for hours?
Please explain like I'm in grade school
Why do people leave cars unattended with the engine running? I understand the ancient practice of warming it up in your driveway, but outside a business? In the street?
Maybe I just grew up in sketchy areas during the great crime wave, but I was strictly taught to not do this for both safety and security reasons.
Sorry Swirls
This practice is too dumb to even try to make sense of it to a grade schooler.
Idling is illegal.
One crime deserves another.
No pity for either criminals.
Eye for eye, eh?
I think there's a saying about that.
Also, this sounds different than the kind of idling that the law is written about -- the kind where someone is just hanging out scrolling through their phone while parked for half an hour. Would you also ban idling at stop lights? (Or call for theft from the owners of those cars?)
That’s quite a jump.
No pity to Old Testament.
This sounds like typical Waquiot post.
Wow
In addition to owning a house, it appears I am living in your head.
Cheap rent, though.
Probably the best shelter you’ll…
… ever have.
Your gratitude shows hope for you yet.
