Cheryl-Anns' in South Brookline, closed since a 2021 fire, is kvelling this morning that it's gotten the final town permit it needs and it will re-open promptly at 7 a.m. on Friday - just in time for the shabbat rush.

WBUR reports that Roula Kappas, who bought New Paris Bakery in Brookline Village with her husband in 1988 is closing the shop so she can retire to Greece. Read more.

Patrick Maguire reports that Japonaise Bakery & Café, on Beacon Street on the Brookline side of Audubon Circle, expects to re-open in 45 to 60 days. Owner Takeo Sakan closed it in 2021 for the first extensive renovations since it opened in 1985. He started a GoFundme page both to help pay for the new equipment and to help support the staff during the closure.
