Storrow

A rare double storrowing, captured by Mark Norton.

Verb: To ignore warning signs and try to drive a truck under a bridge that doesn't have enough clearance for you only to learn why those signs had been posted in the first place.

Named, obviously, for the prevalence of the act on Storrow Drive, and often associated with Allston Christmas, but it's a year-round occurrence and can occur on Memorial Drive and even in such exotic locals as Dedham and Westborough.

Judges grant points on such criteria as amount of roof peelback, percentage of the trailer destroyed, amount of trailer contents spilled on the road and how far the resulting traffic jam goes. Bonus points if the truck winds up tilted at a particularly jaunty angle, although that typically only happens at the Kenmore ramps from Storrow outbound, where a curved roadway and low overhead ramps combine to force trucks into seemingly perilous angles.
