Mobile home

Somebody posted an ad on Craigslist and, yes, that is what the mobile home actually looks like:

Hi, I have a tiny home that I would like to either put in a vacant lot or a backyard. It is tiny. 20 feet long and 8 feet wide. I will be moving it in Fall and looking for a place to bring it to!

If JP doesn't work out (you know how pesky our zoning codes can be), there's always Boston's only mobile-home park - the Boston Trailer Park on VFW Parkway in West Roxbury.

H/t Freddie Francis.

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports the council has voted to give up its legal battle to be declared a city agency, a declaration without which it can't fight the project to turn the former orphan's home on South Huntington Avenue into condos. On the plus side, if the council isn't a city agency, it can once again argue it's not subject to the state Open Meeting Law and so shut residents out of meetings whenever it feels like it.

Second seat for your muffin, that's a new one on the Red Line.

She kept awkwardly nibbling on it and was seated facing it like it was her life partner.

It's very difficult to find a place to eat then. Thank goodness for the Westbury in West Roxbury (at 6 a.m., somebody was just lifting the security grate at the Robinwood in JP),

As for why I was driving around the City that Always Sleeps at that ungodly hour, well, had to get the kidlet to school for a field trip. A field trip to Williamstown.

A.P. Blake reports the VA Hospital in Jamaica Plain lost power around 10:30 a.m., and now the halls are lit only by emergency lights and only two elevators are running.

There's a veteran singing Charlie on the MTA, playing a banjo, in one of the waiting areas. This is what power outages do. ... Pretty much everyone in the hospital is cracking jokes about it. "De-fund ACA and we'll turn the power back on!"

MassDOT plans to shut the Casey Overpass on Oct. 5 and 6 for emergency repairs to the road surface "to ensure the bridge can remain open during snow and ice events."

And that's just the start. The state says some 17 sections of the overpass, which is slated to be completely be torn down, need repair, and that it will have to be shut for three more weekends as well. Also:

During the closures, MassDOT is intending to remove the existing driving surface with jackhammers. As a result, there will be noise associated with this work. The end result will be an improved riding surface.

The Jamaica Plain Gazette reports only 12 people signed up to run for the 20 total seats on the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council in its October elections. But don't worry, drama fans: One of the people now guaranteed a return trip to the council is Benjamin Day, the guy responsible for that ever popular guessing game: Is the council a public agency or not?
