New Orange Line trains

What the new Orange Line cars will look like (running alongside the Longfellow?).

A federal judge has thrown out a lawsuit against the MBTA by two companies that objected to the way the T awarded the bid for new Red and Orange Line cars to a Chinese manufacturer.

The dismissal, which actually happened in March, does not necessarily clear the tracks for CNR MA - a joint venture of two Chinese companies - to deliver scores of new cars for the two subway lines between 2018 and 2021. Read more.

Frontal views, this time, only he's zipped up. That bit of oral satisfaction at State Street last week could lead to a criminal sentence and permanent status as a sex offender.

Boston Metro reports the long arm of the law is about to grab the man getting some oral loving on the Orange Line the other night - and the woman giving it to him. Transit Police say they'll throw the book at the two - and not a copy of the Kama Sutra.

Transit Police are looking for a guy they say has held up the Fresco flower stand on the Dartmouth Street side of Back Bay station twice this week.

The guy made off with cash in afternoon heists on both Monday and Wednesday. On Monday, he motioned as if he had a gun. He's also wanted for possibly menacing other people in the station.

He's described as Hispanic, about 22, 5'8" to 5"10" and thin. He has a tattoo behind one of his ears.

If he looks familiar, contact detectives at 617-222-1050 or send an anonymous tip to 873873.

Kate Lockwood reports:

It's not every day you see someone get on the T carrying a live 6-foot snake. So that happened.

She says the woman had the snake around her neck and that the pair got off at Green Street. She adds the snake:

Was a kind of light brown with black spots I think. I was trying not to stare!

Tonight's line of mourners for the Orange Line includes a very special guest, Channel 7's own Dan Hausle, who had a Vine time recording the wait at Downtown Crossing, where riders piled up because of a train that ascended to Valhalla at Chinatown.

Update, 5:58 p.m. Shamus Moynihan reports:

DTX for 25 mins. Train came through too full. Sign saying 4 mins the whole time.

Orange Line without the fake wood paneling

Although the T hasn't told us one way or another, fans of the 1960's rec-room look probably have to resign themselves to losing the faux wood on the Orange Line trains once the new cars get here in, well, whenever.

Patrick Baxter gives us a taste of an Orange Line car without the rich, dark wood, thanks to an ad campaign that involves wrapping interior walls, ceilings and doors in white.
