Smashed up car next to the trolley it turned in front of

Transit Police report the driver of a small SUV who turned left in front of a trolley that had the green signal on Commonwealth Avenue at Summit Avenue had to find alternate means to get home - while the trolley driver wound up getting transported to a local hospital with neck and back pain. At 7:51 a.m., the MBTA announced delays of up to 15 minutes on the Red Line due to a train that diverted to the River Styx near Broadway. Read more.

Transit Police report arresting several teens they say responded to a woman's request to settle down on the Red Line Thursday night by pointing gel-pellet guns at her - with one opening fire and shooting her in the mouth. Read more.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Aug. 4, 1910, Thomas Manning, a veteran motorman for the Boston Elevated Railway, widely known as a careful and sober driver, picked up a four-car train at Egleston Square from the crew that had just let off the last passengers of the night at Forest Hills to guide it into the Guild Street yard near Dudley station for several hours of cleaning and repairs. Four construction firms that teamed up to build the Green Line Extension say the company that designed key components of the new trolley line screwed up to the tune of more than $35 million in cost overruns, and they are demanding payment, in a suit filed today in Suffolk Superior Court. Update: The T reported at 9:17 a.m. the problem was fixed and things were back to what passes for normal these days.

Good thing the T has all these alternatives to the Sumner Tunnel in place because it's reporting there are still signal problems at Orient Heights causing all sorts of delays on the Blue Line.

The MBTA reports delays of up to 30 minutes on the free Blue Line due to a signal issue at Orient Heights; says the signal department is on scene trying to fix the problem.

Truck stuck under the Freeport Street Red Line bridge

Another Gay Boston Realtor, who spotted a storrowing at the Red Line bridge over Freeport Street earlier this month, got stuck in traffic again this afternoon when the driver of a beefy 18-wheeler tried his luck - and lost.

Transit Police report they are looking for Andre Parham-Rankin, 27, whom they say fired a single bullet at somebody at the Nubian Square bus depot, but missed, around 5:40 a.m. on July 20. Read more.

The MBTA reports that after 12 days of work replacing track the Green Line will re-open for service tomorrow morning in Brighton and Allston.

The T says workers put in some 2,800 feed of track at Blandford Street, Packards Corner, and between Harvard Avenue and Griggs Street, as well as replaced worn out wooden ties and the like.

The MBTA announced today that General Manager Phillip Eng has brought in a series of lieutenants from his days of running railroads in New York to try to turn the T into a fully functioning and safe transit system. Read more.

The MBTA announced today it's opening a temporary CharlieCard store in the State Transportation Building at 10 Park Plaza because of intractable air-conditioning problems that forced it to shut the normal CharlieCard store in Downtown Crossing earlier this month. Read more.

The state and Berklee College of Music say they free musical performances outside the Aquarium and Wonderland stops twice a week will help take commuters' minds off what are now regular delays due to wire inspections on top of the delays caused by all the slow zones and all the crowding caused by people who normally drive but who have to deal with the Sumner Tunnel shutdown. Around 7 p.m., the MBTA announced inbound delays of 20 minutes due to "a train with a power problem at Copley," or what Chen Cao described as "wires down" just inbound from Copley - about 40 minutes after similar delays due to a dead trolley at Arlington. Read more.

NBC Boston reports Boston firefighters were able to free the woman around 5 p.m. on Friday, after which Boston EMS transported her to a local hospital. The T notes it did not move the train until after the woman was freed.

Transit Police report arresting Kristen Kulch, 37, at the Wellington Orange Line stop around 2 p.m. yesterday for allegedly punching an elderly man and woman repeatedly after they asked if she could move her bag so they could sit together. Read more.
